On a windy and rainy afternoon of 15 May, there was a warm gathering and enthusiastic discussion about the emergence of Employer Branding on the strategic agenda of HR executives.  Fifteen experienced HR professionals from various industries such as Banking, IT, F&B, Real Estate, FMCG and Executive Search came to the table with interesting and converging viewpoints that Employer Branding is increasingly important.

That’s perfect advice for Asian startups. We’re not in a startup to live up to Silicon Valley’s expectations.

As you may know, I think Asia should embrace its own identity and stop trying to be Silicon Valley. Today, I’m telling you, Asia is just as innovative as the Valley – if not more so. And this can’t be ignored.

"We held the first in a series of our HiringBoss HR executive roundtable events this week, at the plush surroundings of the Shri Rooftop restaurant here in Ho Chi Minh City. The topic of choice this time was "Talent Acquisition in Vietnam: A Vision For The Future?" 

Our concept is to gather high level HR influencers in one place: no PowerPoint or long presentations allowed, just free-flowing chat in a relaxed ambience (with great food!)  

We purposely kept the discussion points open in a bid to invite debate...and our tactic worked.Talk ranged from discussion of the current state of talent acquisition strategy in Vietnam, to challenges faced and aspirations for the future of HR and recruiting strategy in general. 

Gathered round the table we had influencers from the world of business in Vietnam , from the worlds of banking,  real-estate, commerce and industry. All were HR Director grade or above- with a couple of CEOs thrown in for good measure. 10 guests in total, 10 points of view about the state of talent acquisition in Vietnam...and some interesting takeaways from the event. Here is a very brief run-down of a couple of interesting insights:
