I was recently asked to submit my resume and writing samples for a potential freelance writing stint.
Traditionally, I would’ve opened up my folders, loaded a Microsoft Word document with my details, updated and cleaned it to reflect the latest work done and saved it as a PDF file. I would’ve then gone into my writing portfolio, contemplated which articles I deemed fit for this project and then attached those to the email.
But in this time and age, doing all that will be passé.

Crowdsourcing – a term meaning to gather resources from a crowd – has been turning heads of industry players for a while now. But is this trend increasingly becoming the new way to recruit in Singapore?

 We believe so.
Although majority of the players we are aware of are firm believers of the traditional ways of recruiting, we’ve noticed a younger, dynamic pack of recruiters who are trying to find new ways to hire.

A client recently asked me to find out a bit more about what was happening in China with regards employer branding and social recruiting because this is proving a bit of a problem for them. There is extreme competition for skilled technical candidates and their efforts from their global programs were falling short. I am by no means an expert in China, fortunately the benefit of social networking means I know a man who is.

It is not surprising as World Bank ranked Singapore as the country with the most business-friendly regulations in the world! Therefore doing business in Singapore may sound like a really promising idea!
